On
the Atlantic coast of Argentina , lies the animal sanctuary called
Punta Tombo. This is the location of the world´s largest colony of
Magellanic penguins. During the breeding season, which lasts from about
September until the end of March, about four hundred thousand
penguins inhabit this location. Males and females constantly take turns
during breeding. A parent penguin goes out in the morning to hunt for
food, while the others take care of the offsprings. But now, in
February the young penguins almost have their wings so the parents get
a break too. |
